Mary Maureen (McDonald) Becker, 73, of Manchester and formerly of Ryan, died Monday, September 03, 2007, at her home following a lengthy illness.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester by Rev. Nick March. At Maureen’s request, the family will greet friends an hour before the services on Saturday. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Ryan.
Maureen was born January 12, 1934 in Ryan, the daughter of Frank D. and Marian V. (Morrissey) McDonald. She attended St. John’s School in Ryan, graduating in 1951. She studied nursing at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dubuque and graduated in 1954. Maureen worked at St. Francis Hospital in Waterloo before moving to Chicago in 1958 to work at St. Anne’s Hospital. In 1959, Maureen moved to Kalispell, Montanta and in 1961, to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she worked at the Bernaillo County Indian Hospital. On April 8 1967, Maureen was united to Joseph L. Becker in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Maureen worked at the Santa Fe Public Health and Indian Hospital until retiring in 1985. In April of 2006, Maureen moved to Manchester.
Maureen is survived by her husband, Joseph Becker of Independence; step-daughter, Ann Becker-Porras of Madrid, Spain; two step-granddaughters; two sisters, Jody (Jerry) Doyle of Manchester and Mona (Donald) Reilly of Coggon; a brother, Dorrance (Emogene) McDonald of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews.
Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, Frank & Marian McDonald; two sisters, Denise Kinley and Eileen Stallman; and a brother, Jerry McDonald
