Mary R. Meyer
January 22, 1916 — December 22, 2005
Mary R.Meyer, 89, of 5807 Timber Creek Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Robins, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2005, at Hiawatha Care Center, following a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2005, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Dave Higdon. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Bernard "Bud? of Cedar Rapids; her children, Linda Sue (Lanny) Vaughn of Antioch, California, Rick Allen (Sandra) Freese of Cedar Rapids and Sally (Daniel) Kadlec of Central City; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband, Mike; two brothers, Roy Elkin and Russell Elkin; and five sisters, Mildred Sutera, Ruth Petrak, Maxine Dunlap, Madylene Finley and a sister who died as a young child.
Mary was born January 22, 1916, the daughter of Robert and Gertrude (McChesney) Elkin in Fairfax. She married Milan "Mike? Freese. She later married Bernard Meyer in 1976. Mary was a homemaker and helped her former husband Mike with the family business "Freese Well Drilling?. Later in life she worked at St. Luke?s Hospital working around the ER and Operating areas.
Mary had a greatlove for horses and the outdoors and great passion for her whole family and friends.
A memorial fund has been established in Mary?s memory.
