Mary C. Wallace, 71, of Manchester, died Thursday evening, August 30, 2007 at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester following a short illness.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 3, 2007 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manchester by Rev. Nick March. Family will greet friends from 3-8 p.m. on Sunday, with a rosary at 4 p.m. and scripture service at 7 p.m., at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester and one hour before services Monday at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Ryan.
Mary was born February 3, 1936 in Harpers Ferry, the daughter of Henry F. and Elsie (Thurm) Wiley. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1954 and attended Mt. Mercy College and Upper Iowa University. On July 9, 1960 Mary was united in marriage to Kent N. Wallace at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manchester. Mary taught school in the Manchester / West Delaware School District for over 30 years.
Mary was a very active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, St. Gerard Study Club, Assumption Choir, Parish Providers and taught CCD. Mary’s life revolved around God and her family.
Mary is survived by her husband, Kent Wallace of Manchester; four sons, Mike (Sharon) of West Des Moines, Mark (Kim) of Grinnell, Kris (Laurie) of Iowa City and Scott (Michelle) of Waverly; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry & Elsie Wiley.
