Mavis N. (Pike) McCallister, 80, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2010, from complications due to Alzheimer’s at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House. Family will greet friends from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City. Private graveside services will be at the Prairieburg Cemetery, Prairieburg.
Survivors include her children, Denise (Darwin) Ammeter and Norman McCallister, both of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua and Danielle Ammeter, and Shane and Cameron McCallister.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Richard and Paul Pike and a sister, Audrey Pike.
Mavis was born November 24, 1929 in Coggon, Iowa, the daughter of Daniel N. and Hazel B. (Story) Pike. Mavis worked for St. Luke’s Hospital for 16 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed greatly.
