Merle D. Anderson, 61, of Central City, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at St. Luke?s Hospital, following a lingering illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Central City by Rev. Del Bear. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery in Central City.
Survivors include his wife, Connie; three children, Kim Conrad and husband Curt of Dewitt, Maurice Anderson of Cedar Rapids and Lori Scheder and husband Greg of Somerset, Wisconsin; a brother, Richard Anderson of Minnesota; two sisters, Kathryn Freeze of Monticello and Marjorie Wilson of Central City; and four grandchildren, Austin Conrad and Carole Anne, William and Kaitlin Scheder.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Earl and Ronald Anderson.
Merle was born August 30, 1942, the son of George and Esther (Leinen) Anderson in Cedar Rapids. On December 27, 1974, he married Connie Brady in Galena, Illinois. Merle served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked for Rockwell, retiring in 1997. Merle was a member of American Legion Wapsi Post No. 421 of Central City who will perform military rites.
