Michael A. Westerly, Sr., 75, of 8401 Spanish Road S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, March 15, 2007, in his home following a long illness. Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 19, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, by the Rev. Del Bear. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Inurnment: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his significant other, Camy Benson; children, Michael Westerly, Jr., Tim Westerly, and Kim Westerly (Shook); grandchildren, Anthony Shook, Mariah Shook, Michael Westerly and one sister, Beverly Smith. Also surviving are Mike, Jodi, Hailey and Brett Benson. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Richard, Jack and Dennis; two sisters, Patty and Phylis; and one granddaughter, Amber.
Michael was born September 29, 1931, in Liberty Center, Iowa, the son of Edgar and Lucy (Meeker) Westerly. Michael was a truck driver for Iowa Concrete and Teamsters Local #238 for many years retiring in 1992.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Luke?s Hospice, 1026 A Avenue N.E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402.
