Michael Hollis Wiggins, 75, of Center Point, Iowa, died Sunday, January 3, 2010, in his home. Services: 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, by the Rev. Del Bear. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; children, Shirley (Steve) Lound of Becker, Minnesota, Mike (Kim) Wiggins of Center Point, Greg (Carrie) Wiggins of Carver, Minnesota, Gary Wiggins of Iowa City, Dan Wiggins and friend Donna of Center Point, Tim Wiggins of Toddville and Shari (Bob) Newlin of Center Point; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and one on the way. Also surviving are his siblings, Bob Wiggins, Ardis Maki, Patricia Gould, Betty Chudy, Evelyn Nutter, Shirley Saari and Carol Larson; and many nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dorie Wiggins; grandson, Christopher Wiggins; sister, Emma Hobart; and brother, John Wiggins.
Born February 13, 1934, in Palisade, Minnesota, Michael was the son of Lyle and Mildred (Woodcock) Wiggins. On June 14, 1954, he was united in marriage to Shirley Rowray in Cedar Rapids. He retired from Harnischfiger Manufacturing.
In retirement, Michael enjoyed working on his acreage, planting trees, gardening and being outdoors.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Gentiva Home Health Service and Mercy Hospice for the loving and compassionate care they gave Michael.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
