Milton R. “Butch” Postel, 82, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, with a prayer service beginning at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at the Old St. Joseph Church located at, 995 5th Avenue in Marion. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Hazel Knoll Cemetery near Viola, Iowa, with full military honors.

Butch was born on May 25, 1943, in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of Robert and Velma (Koppes) Postel. After graduating from Anamosa Community High School, he went on to serve honorably in the United States Army. On October 3, 1969, Butch was united in marriage to Mary Eileen Cole at St. Patrick’s Church in Anamosa. He worked at Rockwell Collins until his retirement after 44 years. Butch was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Marion American Legion Post 298. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Butch is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Mary of Marion; children, Christopher (Michelle) Postel of Marion, and Laura (Jason) Stolba of Anamosa; grandchildren, Riley (Mackenzie) Byers of Springville, Iowa, Ty Borseth of Marion, and Taniesha (Lane) Kauten of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Carson and Mason Byers, and Xander and Xavier Taylor; his sister, Diann (Dan) Pavelka of Lisbon, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Lynnette Morrison, and Sarah Cole; and many dear nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Tom, Beverly, and Nancy; mother-in-law, Lucile Cole; father-in-law, Ransel “Pat” Cole; and brothers-in-law, Gordon Shaffer, Lynn Serbousek, and Doug Morrison; and sister-in-law, Sue Postel.
