Norma Jean Jacobsen passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026, with her husband and family by her side. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood in Cedar Rapids.
Norma was born July 21, 1959, in Independence, Iowa, the youngest of 13 children of Cletus and Theresa Kremer. She married Jon Jacobsen on November 27, 1982, and they were devoted life partners. Norma was a compassionate caregiver in her career as a registered nurse at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Norma relished her role as mother most and, together, her family enjoyed exploring new places, travels, laughs, and simple joys with each other. Despite health setbacks, Norma always exhibited positivity, a sense of humor, and brought a smile to all she encountered.
Norma is survived by her husband, Jon; her children, Kirsten Jacobsen (Samantha Shoger) and Michael Jacobsen; her siblings, Eugene Kremer (Marcia Tyson), Kenneth (Therese) Kremer, Patricia (Richard) Struble, Larry (Carol) Kremer, Jerry Kremer, Raymond Kremer, Janice Kremer, Roger (Connie) Kremer, and Connie (Dennis) Balk; sister-in-law, Brenda Kremer; and brothers-in-law, Paul (Nancy) Jacobsen and Armand Perrier. She was also the “fun aunt” to many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cletus and Theresa Kremer; siblings, LeRoy Kremer, Ronald Kremer, and Carolyn (John) Sheehan; and sisters-in-law, Valerie Kremer, Marla Kremer, and Carol (Jacobsen) Perrier.
Memorials may be directed to the Mercy Medical Center Foundation or the Cedar Valley Humane Society.
