Norma Alvina Myers, 87, formerly of Alburnett, died Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Northbrook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids, IA. Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Tuesday. Burial: Blodgett Cemetery, Central City, IA.
Survivors include her children, Robert Yates of CA, John (Cindy) Yates of Cedar Rapids, Dorothy (Mike) Downs of Manchester, and Trudie (Ron) Davis of Cedar Rapids; four step-children; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and her husband.
Norma was born on September 14, 1924 in Spring Valley, MN, the daughter of Miner and Geneva (Hanson) Christianson. She was raised in Ostrander and educated in the local area schools.
Norma was a member of the Marion American Legion Post #298, a devoted homemaker, mother, and Rockwell Collins employee, retiring with over twenty years of service. She loved to travel and spend time with her pets.
