Orlean E. Bohrer, 85, of 3581 Alice Road, Toddville, died Saturday, September 18, 2004, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, after a brief illness. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at Kenwood Park United Methodist Church, 302 33rd Street N.E.in Cedar Rapids 52402. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, rural Toddville. Friends may call from 4 - 7 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 21) at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 62 years, Ervin; a son, Dale of Toddville; a daughter-in-law, Patty Bohrer-Gothe and husband Allyn of Cedar Rapids; a sister-in-law, Elsa Rose of Chicago; four grandchildren, Daryll (Beth) Bohrer of Marion, Darwin (Noree) Bohrer of Orlando, Florida, Deborah (Eric) Eldred of Parker, Colorado, and Douglas (Joy) Bohrer of Paletine, Illinois; and eight great-grandchildren, Faith, Tyler, Hanna, Tiffanie, Deanna, Chloe, Julia and Annika.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dean; a brother, Noel Rose; and a sister, Miriam Lee.

Orlean was born the daughter of Albert A. and Faith A. (Castile) Rose on June 8, 1919, in Fountain, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Ervin E. Bohrer on September 23, 1942, in Toddville. Orlean was a registered nurse at St. Luke?s Hospital in Cedar Rapids for forty years, retiring in 1980 and volunteered for several years as a Red Cross nurse. She was a member of Kenwood Park United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, International Flying Farmers and Midway Homemakers. Orlean was a licensed private pilot and enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, gardening, and working on the farm with her family.

Her family and friends were the great loves of her life. Orlean will be remembered as a very gracious and compassionate person. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Orlean?s memory.
