Peggy Sue Greene, 66 of Center Point, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, in her home, following a long term illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, by the Rev. Mark Lofquist. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, at a later date.
Survivors include her children, Dawn Marie (Daniel Young of Urbana) Greene and Charles (Nicole) Greene, both of Center Point; her grandchildren, Haley Young, Emily and Logan Greene; a brother, Lloyd Fields of Alton, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Betty Lennington; a sister-in-law, Beth Ann Fields; and special friend, Bob Baskerville.
Peggy was born November 17, 1941, the daughter of Walter and Leta (Jackson) Fields, in Alton, Illinois. A graduate from Alton High School, she married Charles N. Greene in 1962. They later divorced in 1990. Peggy worked as a bookkeeper for Air Filter Sales and Service and Stove Shop in Cedar Rapids. She also helped at the Cedar Rapids Bowling Center.
Peggy was a member of the Kennedy Booster Club, numerous bowling leagues and the Toddville Free Methodist Church.
