Phillip R. Smith, 83, of Central City, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at his home. A private funeral service will be held Thursday, August 1, 2013, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Central City, by Pastor Greg Williamson. Burial: St. John’s Cemetery, Rock Springs, Wisconsin.
Phil was born April 10, 1930, in Withee, Wisconsin, the son of Edwin and Pauline (Geisser) Smith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War. Phil married Phyllis Klipp in September, 1951, in Rock Springs, Wisconsin. He worked as a painter for many years and was a member of Painter Local #447. He was also part of the Gambles Store family business for several years. Phil was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Marion, and American Legion Wapsi Post #421 of Central City.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; daughter, Mary Ann Dickinson; grandchildren, Travis Hoffpauir, Michael Hoffpauir, April Winters, and Erica Dickinson; and great-grandchildren, Noah, Clayton, Mia, Nevaeh, and Jaidie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, JoAnn Hoffpauir, and brother, Robert Smith.
