ReGina Marie Culbertson, 54, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, January 25, 2026, after a long battle with complications of diabetes. Memorial Service: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2026, with visitation to begin at 12:30 p.m. at Lovely Lane United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids. A graveside service will be scheduled for a later date in Oakland, Nebraska. ReGina was born on October 13, 1971, in Branson, Missouri to Daniel and Mona Tanksley, Jr. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Oakland, Nebraska. ReGina graduated from Oakland-Craig High School in 1990, where she enjoyed band, vocal music, and school plays. After graduation, she attended Northwestern College where she majored in theater.
ReGina was a walking encyclopedia of musical knowledge. She enjoyed all types of music and could recall artists and lyrics so easily. ReGina was always first pick of any music trivia team. Some of the best times were spent sitting around the table playing games and listening to favorite songs.
ReGina and Janice Culbertson were united in marriage on April 27, 2009. They enjoyed their life together for 28 years and especially raising their son, Connor. Connor was his mother’s pride and joy. She instilled in him a love of the theater, Dr. Who, and a great sense of humor. ReGina will always be remembered for her generous spirit and her unforgettable sense of humor. She always made a point to try to bring joy to everyone she met. At Christmas, ReGina enjoyed wearing her Santa hat and handing out chocolate coins to all the youngsters she encountered.
ReGina was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ray and Marie Dame, Richard and Mildred Tanksley; in-laws, Jack Culbertson and Joyce (Wooley) Greenwood; and aunt, Shelia Meyer.
She is survived by her wife, Janice; son, Connor; parents, Dan and Mona Tanksley; brother, Daniel (Jeanie) Tanksley III; step mother-in-law, Barb Culbertson; sisters-in-law, Jena and Lisa Campbell, Julie Culbertson, Jeanette (Eric) Schrader; step sisters-in-law, Pam Seufferlein and Penny (Kevin) Wortman; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
ReGina’s spirit will live on through everyone who loved her. She will be missed.
