Dick was born on December 15, 1946, in Walker, Iowa, the son of Robert Dean and Bessie Arlene (Bolton) Bowers. He was a graduate of Troy Mills High School and later attended Kirkwood Community College. On October 9, 1966, Dick was married to Bonnie Sue Baugh in Vinton, Iowa. Dick was a proud veteran of the United States Navy Seabees, where he served our country in the Vietnam War. When he returned home, he took on his dream of owning and building his farm with Bonnie, the wife he adored. Together, they raised three daughters, who could put up hay better than any boy. They, along with his grandchildren, were his pride and joy. Dick never met a stranger and could talk to anyone about anything. He always had a smile and a joke. You never left an encounter with Dick in a bad mood. Dick will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dick is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 60 years, Bonnie Bowers of Center Point; three daughters, Denise (Stacy) Griffis of Cedar Falls, Debra Hansen of Center Point, and Brandi Bowers of Center Point; grandchildren, Dylan and Jaylan Harris of Hiawatha, Shaelyn, Ryanne, and Wyatt Hansen of Center Point, Brady, and Quinn Borkgren, and Piper (Ryan) Estling of Center Point; siblings, Linda (Ray) Burns of Pittsburg, Kansas, Carrie (Bill) Collins of Wentzville, Missouri, Bessie Jane Bemer of Toddville, John (Connie) Bowers of Troy Mills, Ava Platts of Tipton, Mary Spangler of Marion, and Ben (Deb) Bowers of Center Point; many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and countless nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; and mother, Bessie.
