Richard W. Ford, 78, of Lisbon, died Tuesday, February 20, 2007, in his home after a battle with cancer. Memorial Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2007, at Community Bible Church, 940 West Mt. Vernon Road, Mt. Vernon, Iowa, by Pastor Andy Majorins. The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.

Survivors include his wife, Joan; his children, Susan Ford-Baltazar (Vincente), Adrienne Wallen (Kelly), Scott Ford (Becky) and Bruce Ford (Sandy); grandchildren, Kristen Skopeck, Nicholas Pelhan (Jo Anna), Jason Sissel, Matthew Sissel (Melicia), Melissa, Brad and Paige Ford and Josh and Calvin Ford; and a great-grandchild, Madison Skopeck.

He was preceded in death by his eight siblings.

Richard was born June 27, 1928, to Marvin and Grace (Aiken) Ford in Urbana, Iowa, and was raised by his grandparents, George and Maud Ford after the death of his mother. He graduated from Central City High School and served with the U.S. Navy from 1946 - 1948. On June 18, 1950, he was united in marriage to Joan Wenger in Cedar Rapids. Richard owned the Marion Gulf station for twenty years and retired from Cherry Burrell in 1991. He attended Community Bible Church in Mt. Vernon.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of Mercy, especially Jenny Hohneke for her compassionate care of Richard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be divided between Hospice of Mercy and Community Bible Church Benevolent Fund.
