Richard E. Kelley, 77, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Living Center West, Cedar Rapids. Services: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Pastor Tim Carter. Family will greet friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time on Wednesday. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey Kelley of Cedar Rapids; children Rita (Michael) Curtis of Mobile, Alabama, Kenneth (Marion) Seidlitz of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Ellen (Andy) Windenberg of Arkansas, and Gary (Sherrie) Kelley of Arkansas; one sister, Margaret (Jerry) Ritter of Arizona; his grandchildren; and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Richard was born on December 3, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, son of Donald and Mildred Kelley. He attended school in Cedar Rapids, until he quit to help take care of his parents. Richard served in the United States Air Force in 1954. In 1969 Richard married Audrey Seidlitz. He worked at Welty Way in Cedar Rapids until he retired. Richard was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Cedar Rapids. He loved to sponsor children in BMX racing and would work on their bikes in his own garage to get them ready for the race.
