Richard George Pritchett

Richard George Pritchett, 81, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at his home. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.

Richard was born on September 22, 1944, in Toledo, Iowa, the son of Jesse “Jess” and Catherine (Barlow) Pritchett. He was a graduate of Tama High School. On September 1, 1961, Richard was united in marriage to Marilyn Kay Lingard in Marshalltown, Iowa. Richard worked for 28 years as a butcher and Meat Market Manager at HyVee in Cedar Rapids, before his retirement in 1996. Following retirement, he obtained his CDL and drove a dump truck for Garry Duggan. He was a car show enthusiast, often found with his pride and joy, his ’51 Ford. Richard also enjoyed spending time with his beloved cats and doing yard work. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Richard is survived and lovingly remembered by his son, Steven Pritchett of Cedar Rapids; daughter-in-law, Jeanine Pritchett of Batavia, Illinois; and five grandchildren, Steven Pritchett Jr., Marissa Pritchett, Jeanna Pritchett, Samuel Pritchett, and Anna Pritchett.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn Pritchett in 2022; two sons, Richard Scott Pritchett and Joel Adam Pritchett; and two sisters, Kay Janke and Karen Van Norden.
