Richard "Rick? D. Hartwig, 59, of 1845 27th Ave., died Wednesday, November 2, 2005, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, from a brain hemorrhage. Services: 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2005, at Ascension Lutheran Church in Marion by Rev. Linda Livingston. Visitation will be from 2 - 6 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion with military honors.

Survivors include his wife Nancy of forty years; a daughter, Traci (Rich) Holland; two sons, Jeff (Linnae) Hartwig, both of Marion; and Jason (Renee) Hartwig of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Ruth (Larry) Archambeau of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two brothers, Bob (Deana) Hartwig of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Randy (Kelley) Hartwig of Marion; and seven grandchildren, Alex, Taylor, Ben, Rachel, Madi, Brody and Mallory.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Rick was born October 12, 1946, in Springfield, Minnesota, the son of Francis and Jean (Frederickson) Hartwig. On October 23, 1965, he married Nancy Jones in Lamberton, Minnesota. Rick served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at Rockwell Collins for thirty-six years. Rick was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Marion. Rick loved spending his time traveling, but his greatest love was to be surrounded by his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He touched many different lives in many different ways. His memory will live forever in those who knew and loved him.

Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #298 of Marion.
