Rickie Lee Danford, 53, of Hinesville, Georgia, formally of Marion, died Friday, October 7, 2005, at home of a heart attack. Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2005, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids with military honors.
Survivors include his wife Terri; his mother, Shirley of Marion; his brother, Dennis (Vickie) of Urbandale; his step-children, Dolly Starnes and Danny (Cheri) Sridej of Georgia; and a niece, Kerry (Mike) Donaldson of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard; a brother, Jim; and a nephew, Brian.
Rick was born October 18, 1951, the son of Howard and Shirley Danford. He was a graduate of Marion High School Class of 1970 and was the school?s first State Wrestling Champion. He served in the U.S. Army for twenty-six years and in Operation Desert Storm. He was most recently employed as a prison guard at Georgia State Prison for nine years.
Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post No. 298 of Marion.
