Robert M. Holub, 77, of Prairieburg, died Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2007, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairieburg. Conducted by: Rev. John Flaherty. Burial: St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 4 ?" 8 p.m., Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene; his children, Chris R. (Glenda) Holub of Delmar, Iowa, Becky (Kevin) Shoop of Walker and Jan (Pat) McLaughlin of Keystone; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Ehrisman of Monticello; and a brother, Steve Holub of Rock Island, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Laura Thuman; and a brother, Lester Holub.
Robert was born February 11, 1930, the son of Albert L. and Elizabeth (Holub) Holub in Jones County, Iowa. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. On July 20, 1954, he was united in marriage to Arlene Heaton. Robert worked for the Linn County Secondary Road Department for thirty-four years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Central City American Legion Wapsi Post 421, which will provide graveside military honors.
Bob enjoyed his family, friends, his dog, Barron, and the sport of crappie fishing.
