Robert "Bob? Leslie Hotz, 80, formerly of Springville, died Wednesday, May 31, 2006, in Hallmark Care Center, Mt. Vernon, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2006, at Springville United Methodist Church in Springville, Iowa, by the Rev. John Keizer. Burial: Springville Cemetery, with military rites. Friends may call at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion from 2 - 5 p.m. Sunday, June 4, where a Masonic Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Survivors include three sons, Rodney (Bea) Hotz of Centennial, Colorado, Roger Hotz of Plymouth, Minnesota, and Russell (Sheri) Hotz of Mt. Vernon; six grandchildren, Jeremy Hotz, Kristen (Jason) Robinson, Brett (Jennifer) Hotz, Mackenzie Hotz, Kara (Mike) Urban and Rodney Hotz II; three great-grandchildren, Mikey Urban, Zachary Hotz and Jordan Hotz; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Sabin and Hannah Eubanks.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two sisters, Arlene Fall and Emogene Feudner.

Bob was born the son of Herman and Anita Myer Hotz on November 12, 1925, on a farm east of Olin. He graduated from Olin High School in 1944, then entered the U.S. Navy and served from 1944 - 1946. On December 22, 1946, he married Dorothy Seamonds in Olin. She died November 24, 2005. Bob worked for the Milwaukee Railroad as a freight/passenger agent for thirty-eight years until his retirement. Bob and Dorothy also owned the Springville Laundromat, which Dorothy operated, and within the store was Hotz TV & Repair shop, which Bob operated. Bob and Dorothy were longtime residents of Springville, where they were active members at Springville United Methodist Church. Bob was a member of Springville Masonic Lodge No. 139, AF & AM and Springville American Legion Post 331, which will provide military honors.
