Robert Beryl Mason

Robert Beryl Mason, 72, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Meth-Wick Community in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation will be held Friday, June 26, 2026, from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion.

Robert was born on September 1, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Beryl Elmer and Emily Lenore (Basten) Mason. He was a 1971 graduate of Regis High School and went on to attend Kirkwood Community College and the University of Northern Iowa. Robert worked at Rockwell Collins, until his retirement in 2020.

Robert was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Panthers, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams. He also had a passion for motorsports, particularly World Endurance Sports Car Racing and Formula 1. Music was another important part of his life, and he shared his talents as a member of the Marion Big Band, the Marion Community Jazz Band, and several local area bar bands. He enjoyed reading about history, loved spending mornings in the duck blind, and afternoons in the fishing stream.

Robert is survived by his sister, Susan Mason, and his close friends, Pamela Benson and Kathy Havlick.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
