Robert L. Weitenhagen, Sr., 79, of 652 20th Avenue S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, June 3, 2009, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 1:30 p.m., Monday, June 8, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, June 7, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his longtime companion, confidant and best friend, Tootie Gould of Cedar Rapids; children, Lynnette (Bruce) Kenison of Cedar Rapids, James Weitenhagen of Cedar Rapids, Luann (Leeon) Adams of Snohomish, Washington and Robert (Georgieanna) Weitenhagen, Jr. of California; eleven grandchildren; and his cat Sam.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Beulah Dooley and Beverly Lobeck; and his brother, Lawerence.
Born November 18, 1929, in West Union, Iowa, Robert was the son of Frederick and Clara (Blockhus) Weitenhagen. Robert was a truck driver for Hach Brothers for 33 years.
Robert loved to fish.
