Roger Hicks, 74, of Iowa City, Iowa, formerly of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Legacy Pointe Care Center in Iowa City. Visitation for Roger will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025, from 2 to 5 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to follow at 5 p.m. at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester. Burial will take place at a later date at Oakland Cemetery in Manchester.
Roger was born on May 10, 1950, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Donald and Doris (Dosland) Hicks. He graduated from Dewitt High School. Roger married Colleen Harris on September 8, 1973, in Greeley, Iowa. He worked for Muller Plumbing and Heating in Iowa City until his retirement in 2016. Roger enjoyed woodworking, spending time going on motorcycle trips with Colleen, riding the UTV, camping with the family and helping Colleen with her many quilting projects. Roger was a very selfless man who was always thinking of ways to make others feel special. He loved spending time with friends and family, especially with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter Harper, they brought so much joy into his life. Roger will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Roger is survived by his sons, Troy Hicks (Andrea) Hicks of Iowa City, Travis (Kristina) Hicks of Solon; grandchildren, Owen, Libbie, Ethan, Alicia; great-granddaughter Harper; step-grandchildren, Lauren, Monika, and Zach Bevans; siblings, Joyce (Jon) Coppess of Iowa City, Chuck (Barb) Hicks of Michigan, Mary Kay Hicks of Minnesota; sisters and brother-in-law, Karen Senters of Manchester, Nancy (Larry) Stroschein of Elkader, Iowa, Joan (Al) Ojanen of Plainview, Minnesota, Lorie (Ron) Glanz of Manchester, Steve (Stacey) Harris of Hills, Tammy Harris of Edgewood; and many nieces, nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Doris Hicks; wife, Colleen Hicks; father and mother-in-law, John and Mary Ellen Harris; and his brothers-in-law, Jerry Senters and Scott Harris.
