Ronald Higham, 79, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, August 15, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 3 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2013, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Rev. Rick Gail. Family will greet friends from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his children, Bradley Higham and Victoria Higham both of Cedar Rapids; mother of his children, Loretta Higham; son-in-law, Steve Allgood of Mason City; three grandchildren, Rachel, Samantha and Eli Allgood; brother, James Higham; and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Carrie Higham and Kimberly Allgood; brothers, George Bolin and Robert Higham; and sister, Beverly Sheldon.
Ronald was born on March 6, 1934, in Iowa City, Iowa, son of James and Wilma (Trusley) Higham. On June 14, 1978, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Newkirk. She passed away in 1999. He was an Iron worker and worked at Sanitary Dairy. Ronald served in the United States Army at the time of the Korean War. He was a member of Rod Benders. Ronald enjoyed stock car races, fishing, hunting, computers, crossword puzzles, his grandchildren and spending time with his brothers. He also had a great sense of humor.
