Rose M. Hines

Rose M. Hines, 83, of Center Point, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 23, 2025. A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at First Christian Church in Center Point, with the memorial service beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Center Point Cemetery, Center Point. A luncheon will be held at the church after the burial. The family invites guests to wear their favorite team colors or dress casually. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point is assisting the family.

Rose was born on June 27, 1942, in Rowley, Iowa, to Robert and Onolee (Fossett) Abernathy. She graduated from Rowley High School and married Robert R. Hines on June 18, 1961, in Center Point. Rose worked as a custodian for the Cedar Rapids Community School District until her retirement. A lifelong member of First Christian Church in Center Point, she deeply valued her church family. Rose was a devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Survivors include her children, Christine (Matt) Slaymaker of Center Point, Barb (Marshall) Lundborg of Marion, Iowa, and John (Shelley) Hines of Center Point; grandchildren, Kyle Slaymaker, Miranda (Cody) Hansen, Nicholas Hines, and Shayanne Lundborg; and sister, Lavonne (Terry) Bilsland.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Onolee Abernathy; husband, Robert R. Hines; and her sisters.
