Roszella M. Edgar, 80, a resident of Living Center West, died Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics, Iowa City, due to complications of a fall. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 8, 2009, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Thomas McDermott. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday January 7, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a scripture wake service will be held at 5 p.m. Friends may also call at church on Thursday, January 8, 2009, from 9:30 until service time. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
A video/music tribute will be played throughout visitation on Wednesday.
Survivors include her daughter, Pamela Edgar of Santa Monica, California; two brothers, Darwin Stoner of Moberly, Missouri and Mike McCoy, of Newton, Iowa; and a sister, Grace Braaskma of Newton, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Grace (Brown) Stoner; her husband, William; two brothers, Jack Stoner and Raymond Stoner; and three sisters, Arlene Willoughby, Martha Wright and Joreen Seufert.
Roszella was born February 8, 1928, in Prairie City, Iowa. On June 29, 1948, she was united in marriage to William Edgar. William died in 2004. Roszella worked at Square D Company for 35 years, retiring in January, 1990.
She loved the outdoors and enjoyed working in her adored and much envied flowerbeds. Also, feeding and housing the birds. Other joys, were cooking, knitting and crocheting; cards and games and crossword puzzles.
Roszella will be tremendously missed by her daughter, family, friends and her many angelic helpers.
A little woman with a big voice. A voice that was definitely worth listening to…that could bring laughter to your heart. A fun lady and joy to be around.
Sparkling brown eyes…then revealing the quick wit ending with a smile.
She had gigantic willpower…amazing and inspiring everyone!
She now walks freely in God’s Light.
Rose’s fragrance lingers always in all hearts, blessed to know her.
