Russel L. Weston, 79, of 155 Robins Road, Hiawatha, Iowa, died on Saturday, November 10, 2007, in his home of a sudden illness. There will be no services. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Stanley Cemetery, Stanley, Iowa.
Survivors include his children, Steven (Becky) Weston of Cedar Rapids, Roxanne (Garey) Davis, Sr. of Lake Milton, Ohio and Russel Dean (Melissa) Weston of Olathe, Kansas; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Cheryl Stoddard of San Antonio, Texas, Yvonne Copp of West Union, Iowa, and Lynelle Crane of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and brothers, Larry Weston of Washington, North Carolina and Lyle Weston of Central City, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Richard Weston.
Russel was born November 13, 1927, in Hazelton, Iowa, the son of Leslie and Gladys (Harrington) Weston. He served in the U.S. Army. Russel worked for a meat packing company and was a janitor for Kirkwood Community College for 13 years, retiring in 1987. Russel enjoyed dancing.
