Ruth Sojka Green, 91, a former resident of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, December 27, 2002, in Nottingham Village Retirement Center, Northumberland, Pennsylvania, of a short illness. Graveside Services: 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 6, 2003, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements are with Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a son, Gary Sojka of Middleburg, Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by six sisters; a brother; and her husbands, Marvin Sojka and Harry Green.
Ruth was born December 10, 1911, the youngest of eight children, to George William and Mini Baggenstoss Waddington, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A resident of Cedar Rapids for over 80 of her 91 years, she graduated from the Edgewood Grammar School and Grant Vocational High School. Ruth was married to Marvin Francis Sojka, a Cedar Rapids businessman, in 1933, until his death in 1969. In 1977, she married Harry Horton Green, a Cedar Rapids traffic engineer. He died in 1985. She was a member of St. Paul?s United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. Ruth had been a resident of the Nottingham Village Retirement Center in Northumberland, Pennsylvania, for nearly 10 years.
