Ruth Ann Rowland (Knotts)

Ruth A. Rowland, 74, of 2219 C Street S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, May 29, 2008, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 31, 2008, at St. Ludmila’s Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Tom McDermott. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Sharon (Joe) Stallman, Kathryn Plotz and Mark Rowland all of Cedar Rapids and Matt (Janice) Rowland of Fairfax; grandchildren, Chad, Adam, Zach, Marcus, Jordan and Spencer; great grandson, Morgan; her sister, Pauline Gail of Cedar Rapids; many nieces and nephews; her significant other of 20 years Kenneth Lint and his daughter, Sandy Tucker; and her faithful dog Pepe.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bud Knott; and sister, Geraldine Strait.
Ruth was born January 23, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Jessie and Hester Knotts.
Ruth was a member of St. Ludmila’s Catholic Church. A lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, Ruth had many friends that she enjoyed playing cards, games and going gambling with. Another joy to Ruth was crocheting.
