Sandra Lee Schaefer, 56, formerly of Alburnett, and a resident of Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center in Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at the care center following a long illness. Friends may call from 1 - 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Graveside services: 3 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Beverly A. Thompson-Travis.
Surviving are two sisters, Patricia (William) Schlegel of Urbana and Charlene (Dennis) Bruns of Camdenton, Missouri; her grandmother, Helen Helbig of Marion; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Thomas C. Schaefer.
Sandra was born June 27, 1947, the daughter of Charles and Delores Helbig Schaefer in Cedar Rapids. She was a graduate of Alburnett High School in 1965. Sandra was a bank teller at Bohemian Savings Bank before a car accident left her disabled.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in memory of Sandra for Amenity Hospice of Cedar Rapids, 211 1st Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401.
