Sharon Marie (Madson) Hill, 85, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, Iowa. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 7th, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection (3500 29th Ave, Marion, IA 52302). Mudoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
She was born to Howard and Anna Madson at Spring Grove, Minnesota, on December 31, 1940. She moved with her family to Austin, Minnesota, in 1941, and spent all her growing-up years there. Graduating from Austin High School in 1959, she enrolled at Luther College in Decorah and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1963. Sharon married Edward T. Hill at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin in 1964, and then moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where Ed was attending graduate school at Vanderbilt and Sharon taught in the public schools.
The couple lived in Thousand Oaks, California, and then in Mount Vernon, Iowa, since 1969. Sharon combined motherhood with part-time paralegal work at Wolfe Law Offices and volunteer service. She served on Mount Vernon's Planning & Zoning Commission and on the Mount Vernon School Board. She was active in the League of Women Voters for many years and later volunteered at the Grant Wood Chapter of the American Red Cross. At Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, she served on the Council, sang in the choir, served as an accompanist, and was an active member of many committees.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Edward Hill of Marion, Iowa; daughter, Jane (Fred) Primoli of Stillwater, Minnesota; son, Tim (Angie Moss) Hill of Grayslake, Illinois; and grandchildren, Kennidy, Salvatore, and Francesca Primoli. Braden, Garrett, Reyna, and Pilar Hill; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Betty Young, Daryl Madson, Marlys Kime, and Helen Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mount Vernon Community School District Foundation or Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.
