Sharon Jean Mallison

Sharon Jean Mallison, 77, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Cornerstone Church, located at 925 Blairs Ferry Road in Marion, with an additional one-hour visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.

Sharon was born on June 17, 1947, in Vinton, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Maxine (King) Kerkman. She was a 1965 graduate of Walker High School. Sharon worked as a retail manager for Samsonite Luggage in Denver, Colorado, for over 30 years, before moving to Iowa. She then worked at the Cedar Rapids Gordman’s store for five years and ran the Walmart Garden Center for over 10 years, before her retirement in 2021. She was a member of the Cornerstone Church in Marion. Sharon enjoyed listening to Christian and rock and roll music. She also loved gardening and caring for her dogs and cats. She loved to crochet blankets and made many of them for her family and friends. Sharon will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Sharon is survived and lovingly remembered by her sister, Bonnie (Larry) Roth of Marion; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; as well as many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Dawn Kerkman; son, Zach Mallison; brother, Roger Kerkman; and sister, Patty Engelking.
