Sharron Ann Hockaday, 89, of Clive, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Wesley on Grand Care Center in Des Moines after a short battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa, with visitation two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow at Campbell Cemetery in Bertram, Iowa.

Sharron was born on April 26, 1937, in Dundee, Iowa, the daughter of Garold and Erma (Puffett) Hagelberg. She was a graduate of Dundee High School. On September 17, 1961, Sharron was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Francis Hockaday in Dundee and had three children: Scott, Stacy and Kurt. Sharron worked for Rockwell Collins before finding a job she loved working in the clubhouse at Squaw Creek/Gardner Golf Course. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and New Encounters Widows Group in Cedar Rapids. Sharron enjoyed dining out, playing cards, and creating beadwork calendars. She was a lifelong fan of the Iowa Hawkeye Women’s basketball team and enjoyed watching the Indiana Fever play. She enjoyed her monthly visit to the casinos. She found joy in helping others, often driving friends to their appointments. Above all, Sharron loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Sharron is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Scott (Laura), and Stacy; grandchildren, Seth (Jess), Abigail (Derek), Aaron, Tyler, Trey, Peter (Anna), Justin, Gabe and Jake; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Lydia, Lennex and Charlotte; many nieces and nephews; and her brother, Lyle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dick; beloved son, Kurt; sister, Joyce; brother, Kenneth; sister-in-law Beverly; and sister-in-law, Liliane.
