Shawn Michael Geers

Shawn Michael Geers, 25, of 1709 Hollywood Blvd. NE, died Monday, August 27, 2007, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, as a result of a motorcycle accident. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2007, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids by Father Dennis Cahill. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion where a parish vigil service will begin at 6:30 p.m. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his parents, Gerald and Marjorie Geers of Marion; his maternal grandmother, Doreen Duggan; his brothers and sisters, Scott Geers, Lisa (Jim) Renfer, Mark (Michelle) Geers, Kimberly Dawson, Donna Steger, Mike (Taleigha) Steger, Angela Steger, and Matthew Geers; many special nieces and nephews, Jacob, McKenna, Carson, Will, and Ruby; and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Lawrence Duggan; his paternal grandparents, Gerard and Freida Geers; and a sister-in-law, Mary Geers.
Shawn was born April 20, 1982, the son of Gerald and Marjorie (Duggan) Geers in Cedar Rapids. He worked for Steger Drywall. Shawn graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 2000.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Shawn’s memory.
