Shiela K. Malloy, 55, of Hiawatha, Iowa, died Friday, April 22, 2016, at the Hospice House, Hiawatha. Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2016, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at the funeral home, conducted by Rev. C. W. Slaton. A private committal will take place at a later date.
Survivors include her children, Cory Malloy of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Averi Leonard of Shellsburg, Iowa; two granddaughters, Kira Malloy and Kylee Plowman; siblings, David Childers of Amana, Iowa, Richard Childers of Lusby, Maryland, Karla Strom of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Kathy Richardson of Fayetteville, North Carolina; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Lowell Childers Jr., Daniel Childers, and Donald Childers.
Shiela was born on January 31, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, daughter of Lowell and Wilma (Mayfield) Childers. She graduated from Prairie High School, Cedar Rapids. Shiela worked for REM Iowa for 19 years as a Direct Support Professional. She had a love for music, dancing, floating down the river, camping, a good bonfire, playing pool and had a passion for horses and peacocks.
