Shirley L. Corey, 85, of 16 Dartmouth Street S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, October 30, 2008, at home following a short illness. Graveside Services: 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 3, 2008, at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, by Chaplain Mary Beth Sieman. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m., Monday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Larry (Leslie) Corey of Florence, South Carolina, Betty Jo Corey of Cedar Rapids and Jim (Lori) Corey of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Lee Corey, Lynn Corey, Jason Corey and Justin Corey; and great granddaughter, Lorianna Corey.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; brothers, Howard Stephenson and Robert Stephenson; and sister, Joanne Stephenson Baas.
Shirley was born November 24, 1922, the daughter of Harold and Kate (Merriam) Stephenson. On May 17, 1944, she was united in marriage to Frank Corey in Algona, Iowa. He died July of 2001.
Shirley was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.
A memorial fund has been established in Shirley’s memory.
