Steve T. Christ, 95, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, October 2, 2026. A memorial service will take place at 1:30 p.m. on October 23, 2026, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with visitation beginning one hour prior. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Linwood Cemetery Mausoleum, Cedar Rapids. A livestream of the memorial service may be accessed on the funeral home website tribute page for Steve, under “videos,” starting at 1:30 p.m. on October 23, 2026.
Steve was born December 23, 1930, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, the son of Theodore and Elsie (Costas) Christ. He was raised in Dixon, Illinois, where he attended Dixon High School. Steve went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in finance from Coe College. He participated in ROTC and was commissioned as an officer, completing pilot training and becoming a pilot in the United States Air Force. Steve served honorably from 1953 to 1956.
On March 6, 1954, Steve married Kaye Paine at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Cedar Rapids followed by a ceremony at the Coe College Poe Chapel. He worked for Cherry-Burrell for 40 years, retiring as senior vice president of operations. Steve enjoyed playing tennis and was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan. Steve and Kaye enjoyed living on Lake Macbride from 1972 to 2010. Above all, Steve cherished the time he spent with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Kaye Christ; children, Mitch (Sharan) Christ, Kristina (Carlos) Barreras, and Timm Christ; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter; two sisters; and one brother.
