Steven Terry Hoppenworth

Steven Terry Hoppenworth, 72, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Emery Place Assisted Living in Robins, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.

Steven was born on March 30, 1953, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Arthur William and Dorothy May (Brown) Hoppenworth. He was a graduate of Dunkerton High School. Steven served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On May 28, 1977, Steven was united in marriage to Patricia “Patty” Jo O’Connor in Waterloo, Iowa. He worked in construction, farmed and operated a small business. Steven was a devoted member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Waterloo, where he faithfully volunteered as a nursery attendant every Sunday, and served as property manager. He cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren and had a special love for woodworking and animals. Steven will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Steven is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Patty; two daughters, Nicole Hoppenworth, and Emily Hoppenworth; son, Drew (Meghan) Hoppenworth; three grandchildren, Charlotte, Henry, and Hazel Hoppenworth; sister, Jo Smith; and brother, Neil (Georgia) Hoppenworth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Dorothy Hoppenworth; and brother, John Hoppenworth.
