Steven "Steve" Alan Lindell

Steven “Steve” Alan Lindell, 75, of Marion, Iowa, passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. The funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Marion Methodist Church. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Buck Creek Cemetery in Buck Creek, Iowa.

Steve was born on July 3, 1951, in Jefferson, Iowa, the son of Ivan Curtis and Ardys Jeanette (Winchell) Lindell. He graduated from Boone Valley High School and earned his bachelor's degree in physical education from the University of Northern Iowa. On August 4, 1989, Steve was united in marriage to Brenda Lee Smith in Marion. He worked at Iowa City School District, Cedar Rapids School District, and Marion School District; retiring in 2020.

His enthusiasm for riding his bicycle was evident, as was his love for family time, coaching basketball and football, exploring numerous states with his wife, Brenda, and racing his go-kart in Delaware and modified at Hawkeye Downs. He was a loyal supporter of the Iowa State Cyclones and the Chicago Cubs—Go Cubs Go!

Steve is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 37 years, Brenda Lindell; son, Tyler Lindell; daughter, Amanda (Scott) Paulus; grandchildren, Bryce Lindell, Koleson Trumm, Emma Paulus; parents, Ivan (Ardys) Lindell; sisters, Sandy and Dana Kramer; and grand fur-babies, Gimli and Ivy Paulus.

He was preceded in death by Grandma and Grandpa Lindell and Grandma and Grandpa Winchell.
