Susan Bradley (Brennan) Waldron, 82, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. prior to the funeral. The funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.

Sue was born on April 6, 1943, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Robert and Naomi (McClurg) Brennan. She graduated from St. Edmund High School in Fort Dodge and earned her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Nebraska. It was there that she met the love of her life, Michael “Mike” Waldron. The two were united in marriage on July 9, 1966, at Corpus Christi Church in Fort Dodge.

Sue began her teaching career in Milwaukee before settling in Cedar Rapids, where she devoted 28 years to teaching kindergarten in the Cedar Rapids Community School District. Her love for children and her gift for nurturing young minds left a lasting impact on countless students and families.

In retirement, Sue remained active and engaged. She worked part-time at The Antiques of Marion and was a devoted member of St. Jude Catholic Church for more than 50 years. Her faith guided her life of service, as she volunteered extensively, served on numerous committees, such as the Sweet Corn Festival, and was a founding member of Metro Catholic Outreach. Serving others was not just something Sue did—it was who she was.

Sue cherished time spent with family and friends, especially the many weeks at Benedict Lake in Minnesota. She loved camping weekends, going to antique markets, hunting for bargains at garage sales, and simply being together with those she loved.

Sue will be remembered for her quick wit, generous heart, and her deep, steady faith. Known affectionately as “Grandma Sue” to many—especially within her church community—she had a way of making everyone feel cared for and welcomed. She taught those around her about quiet strength, unconditional love, and trusting God in all things.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Michael Waldron of Cedar Rapids; her children, Courtney (Mike) Hoffman and Michael (Shelley) Waldron, all of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Brennan (Rose) McAllister, Brady (Nolan) Arp, Addy Hoffman, Eli Hoffman, Annah Waldron, Sam Waldron, and Sophie Waldron; great-grandchildren, Mikey, Grace, Walker, Wyatt, and Libby; sister, Nan McTaggart (friend Jerry Adams); and nieces, Jenny Trost and Dr. Jill McTaggart.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St Jude Catholic Church.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
