Susan J. Stevenson, PhD

Susan J. Stevenson, PhD, 75, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Oklahoma, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 24, 2026. A private family graveside service will take place at Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, is assisting the family.

Susan was born June 6, 1951, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Norman J. and Mary Louise (Jesina) Stevenson. She graduated from Washington High School with the Class of 1969. Susan began her career in sales with Nabisco Company and continued working in sales while attending Mount Mercy University. In her fifties, she returned to college to further her education, earning master’s and doctorate degrees through Regis University and Capella University. Throughout her career, Susan worked for Rockwell Collins, Northrop Grumman, Honeywell, General Dynamics, and most recently, Boeing Avionics at Tinker Air Force Base. She retired in 2024 and returned to Cedar Rapids in December 2025. Susan was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed golfing and took great pride in her Czech heritage.

Survivors include her sister, Jan (Bill) Hoekstra of Cedar Rapids; nieces and nephews, Alyssa (Troy) Hallberg and Trenton (Janessa) Hoekstra; and three great-nieces and great-nephews, Jonas, Avery, and Jensen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her nephew, Travis Hoekstra; and her beloved pets.
