Sybil C. Nortmann

Sybil C. Nortmann, 79, of 715 8th Street SW, Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, October 20, 2005, in her home, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Chaplain Beverly Thompson-Travis. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 24, 2005, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph; two sons, Edward (Virginia) Nortmann of Silverdale, Washington, and Gary (Bunlep Khiev) Nortmann of Cedar Rapids; three grandsons, Mark, Eric and Trevor; and two great-grandchildren, Alyshia and McKenzie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Richard Kenney and Earl Kenney.
Sybil was born January 5, 1926, the daughter of Irvin and Olive (Savage) Kenney in St. Paul, Minnesota. On February 24, 1947, she was united in marriage to Joseph A. Nortmann in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A 1944 Roosevelt High School graduate, Sybil played softball in the Cedar Rapids Leagues. She enjoyed oil painting, drawing and bowling in mixed leagues. Sybil?s greatest love was taking care of her family.
