Sydney Pilcher

Sydney Pilcher, 39, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, March 16, 2026 after a short illness.

Celebration of Life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.

Sydney was born on January 4, 1987, in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Ronald Smith and Kendra Readshaw. She was united in marriage to Bryan Pilcher on January 21, 2014, in Charleston, South Carolina.

Sydney worked in the service industry in Cedar Rapids for many years, her time at the Piano Lounge was one of her favorite jobs and most recently she enjoyed managing Winestyles of Cedar Rapids.

She loved music and was an avid reader and researcher. She was hardworking, clever, witty and passionate. Her boys were her greatest accomplishments and she was their biggest advocate, as evidenced by her active role in the PTA and volunteering at Pierce Elementary.

She was known for her independent streak, loyalty and candor. Her presence left an impact in the lives of all who knew her. She was loved and will be missed.

Survivors include her husband, Bryan Pilcher; her children, Liam Joseph Pilcher and Sullivan Robert Pilcher; her parents, Ronald (Jennifer) Smith and Kendra Readshaw; her siblings, Sophia Malcolm, Cole Malcolm (Jacob Horn), Cade Smith, Ryder Smith and Sawyer Smith; her grandparents, Robert and Sherry Readshaw; her father-in-law, Dick Pilcher; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Memorials may be directed to the family for a fund to be established in Sydney’s honor.
