Ted Nunemaker, Jr., 61, of 128 Circle Drive, died Sunday, December 14, 2008, at his home, following a one year battle with prostate cancer. Funeral Services: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2008, at Springville High School by Lowell Klinefelter. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Friday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-two years, Dee of Springville; their children, Jennifer (Darrell) Betzer of Central City, Jay (Brittany) Nunemaker of Cedar Rapids, Jill (Eric) Sells of Marengo, and Julie Nunemaker of Springville; and one granddaughter, Annadee Marie Betzer.

Also surviving are his parents, Ted Sr. and Alice (Weltz) Nunemaker of Cedar Rapids; his brothers and sisters, Mary (Tony) Randall of Greenville, South Carolina, Ron (Kris) Nunemaker of Cedar Rapids, Ken (Shelly) Nunemaker of Cedar Rapids, Connie (Dave) Carver of Marion, Vance (Teri) Nunemaker of Fairfax, Jan (George) Fields of Cedar Rapids, Dan (Penny) Nunemaker of Cedar Rapids; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Mary Weltz and Francis and Agnes Nunemaker.

Ted was born December 1, 1947, the son of Ted and Alice Nunemaker, Sr. in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from LaSalle High School and Iowa State University. On January 31, 1976, he married Dee Novak in Springville. Ted taught Industrial Education at Springville High School for eleven years and in 1976 he was named Teacher of the Year for the State of Iowa in Industrial Education. Ted most recently worked at Rockwell for twenty-one years. He maintained his love of teaching and especially helping others learn what the Bible really teaches.

Ted was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1979 and served as an Elder in the Pioneer Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was active in volunteer work, Kingdom Hall construction, post 9-11 spiritual counseling at Ground Zero, relief work after Hurricane Katrina, and the June 2008 Flood Recovery in the Cedar Rapids area.

The family would like to sincerely thank St. Luke’s Hospice, family, friends and Ted’s co-workers at Rockwell for their concern and support.
