Teresa Marie McCumpsey

Teresa Marie McCumpsey, 59, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the Red Cedar Lodge at Wanatee Park (1700 Big Bluestem Dr, Marion, Iowa 52302).

Teresa was born on December 3, 1966, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Elaine Orcutt and David Achey. She was a graduate of Marion High School. On December 19, 2021, Teresa was reunited with Shawn Hoffman. Teresa dedicated over 22 years to her work, ultimately serving as supervisor of the Heinz warehouse until her medical retirement in November 2025. Outside her career, she found joy in the simple, meaningful things in life. She was a prolific baker and a talented crocheter, and she loved spending time with her family. A beautiful soul, Teresa had a deep appreciation for history, her favorite movie was National Treasure, and she rarely missed a program on the History Channel. She also enjoyed relaxing evenings watching sitcoms with Sam when he was younger.

Teresa lived her life with quiet integrity, always doing the right thing, even when no one was watching. She gave of herself freely, often caring for others before caring for herself, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew and loved her.

Teresa is survived and lovingly remembered by her significant other, Shawn Hoffman; son, Sam McCumpsey; mother, Elaine Orcutt; grandson, Drake Thompson; and siblings, Susie LaMar, Shari Weaver, and DeWayne Achey.
