Thelma I. Nightingale, 89, formerly of Central City, died Monday, May 31, 2004, in Melbourne, Florida. Services: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City, by Pastor Mona Burns. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 - 7 p.m. Friday (June 4.) Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Survivors include her husband, Glenn; two daughters, Charlotte Wyman of Melbourne, Florida, and Dorothy Brcka of Dalton City, Illinois; and two sisters, Evelyn Heiser of Fort Myers Beach, Florida, and Lucille Spurling of West Salem, Illinois.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Stasia (Kevin) Burdett, Julie Sees, Greg (Maria) Brcka, Michelle Hylton, Nanette (Burton) Heginger and Sara Brcka; and seven great-grandchildren, Brandon and Mathew Burdett, Brian and Benjamin Brcka, Nichole and Jake Hylton and Elijah Heginger.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Joe Wathen; two brothers, Lloyd and Maurice Lawrence; and a sister, Alice Fryman.
Thelma was born November 10, 1914, in Etna, Illinois, the daughter of Ace and Bertha Powell Lawrence. On December 24, 1934, she was united in marriage to Joe Wathen in Illinois. Joe died December 16, 1957. Thelma and Glenn Nightingale were married on November 1, 1960.
