Thomas J. ""Tom"" Huggins
March 2, 1951 — February 15, 2007
Tom J. Huggins, 55, of 5266 4th Street, Melrose, Iowa, formerly of Central City, died Thursday, February 15, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines from a heart attack. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Quasqueton Union Church, Quasqueton, Iowa, by the Rev. Kevin Jennings. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 20) at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Melrose; two sons, Al (Tracy) Huggins of Quasqueton and David (Christie) Huggins of Omaha, Nebraska; his mother, Shirley Keal of Florida; his mother-in-law, Emma Christophersen of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Susan, Elizabeth, Taylor and Lucy; two brothers, Jerry (Penny) Huggins of Hiawatha and Mike Huggins of Florida; two sisters, Cyndi Harmon of Florida and Julie (Albert) Christophersen of Cedar Rapids; a half sister, Janel (Darrin) McCann of Fairbank, Iowa; a stepbrother, Scott (Arlene) Walters of Marion; a stepsister, Kathy Franklin of Texas; and many other loving family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, J.C. Huggins; five grandchildren, Angel, Hailey, Tyler, Hunter and Blake; his stepmother, Shirley; his stepfather, Tom; his stepbrother, Brian; and his father-in-law, Willard Christophersen.
Tom was born the son of Junior C. and Shirley A. (Clark) Huggins on March 2, 1951, in Cedar Rapids and was married there on October 2, 1970, to Mary Christophersen. Before becoming disabled, Tom was employed at Highway Equipment Company for nearly thirty years.
Tom was a member of Iowa River Pin Oaks Ducks Unlimited. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed his time spent with his family at Lake Rathbun. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
A memorial fund has been established in Tom?s memory.
