Una Meta Carr (Adams)

Una M. Carr, 84, of 1405 27th St., Marion, died Friday, March 14, 2008, at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion, Iowa. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in Marion, by the Rev. Mike Morgan and Rev. Vicki Standley. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion. Visitation will be at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion from 4 ?" 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Survivors include a son, William L. (Lynn) Carr of Bettendorf; a daughter, Mary Lee (Bruce) Westcott of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Katherine (Dustin) Thorne of Cedar Rapids, Benjamin Westcott of Sterling, Virginia, and Leo and Allissa Carr of Bettendorf; and two great-granddaughters, Victoria and Julia Thorne of Cedar Rapids.
Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Ruth Johnson of Everett, Washington. Una was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Leo.
Una was born July 23, 1923, in Colesburg, Iowa, the daughter of William and Meta (Brockmeyer) Adams. Leo and Una were united in marriage on June 8, 1947, in Colesburg. Leo died July 27, 1996.
Una graduated from Colesburg High School, attended Iowa State University and later, graduated from the University of Dubuque. She began her teaching career in a one-room school house in Northeast Iowa and later, taught at Lambert Elementary in Manchester, Lincoln Elementary in Boone and Emerson Elementary in Marion. Una later worked at FMC in the purchasing office.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marion; Marion Chapter 183, Order of Eastern Star; and the Marion Nature Garden Club.
Memorials may be given, in memory of Una, to First United Methodist Church in Marion or St. Luke’s Hospice.
